Photograph by Julia Margaret Cameron (1874) illustrating Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s Idylls of the King, a cycle of twelve narrative poems, first published between 1859 and 1873, retelling the legend of King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table. Dark and hopeful, this album is juxtaposed with itself. To mourn the death of the old king and celebrate the crowning of the new king, all in a dungeon synth tone. I was personally caught off-guard with how old-school this album is. I love everything about this work, and anyone even remotely interested in the DS scene should check it out.
